The ideal candidate will possess deep knowledge of Indian cultural aesthetics, fabric types, embroidery techniques, pattern making, and color theory. The role requires a strong understanding of how different designs and patterns complement various fabrics, silhouettes (the overall shape or outline of a garment or the form it creates when worn on the body), and body types, with a focus on modernizing traditional wear while preserving cultural essence.
The candidate should demonstrate exceptional creativity, attention to detail, and ownership of their work—from concept to final production. Prior experience working with established design houses or fashion brands is highly preferred, showcasing an ability to deliver high-quality, market-ready collections within deadlines.

Roles and Responsibilities :
- Design Development
Conceptualize and design ethnic wear collections (e.g., lehengas, Kurtis, salwar suits, Anarkalis, etc.) that reflect Indian cultural heritage while aligning with current fashion trends and customer expectations.
Develop seasonal themes, color palettes, and mood boards inspired by festivals, traditions, and contemporary lifestyle aesthetics.
Innovate with traditional and modern silhouettes (the overall shape or outline of a garment or the form it creates when worn on the body), embroidery techniques, prints, patterns, and embellishments that suit the brand’s identity and customer base.
- Fabric & Material Understanding
Select suitable fabrics for each design, considering their drape, texture, weight, color absorption, and suitability for specific silhouettes and occasions.
Recommend and experiment with appropriate surface ornamentation, handwork, printing techniques, and construction methods based on fabric behavior.
Ensure all design concepts are feasible for production and aligned with available resources and timelines.
- Sampling & Cross-Functional Coordination
Create detailed technical sketches and specification sheets for sampling.
Collaborate closely with pattern masters, tailors, embroidery artisans, production teams, and merchandisers throughout the development lifecycle.
Take ownership of the design from initial sketch to final sample, conducting reviews and refining prototypes as needed for production readiness.
- Trend & Market Analysis
Stay updated on Indian ethnic and bridal fashion trends, regional aesthetics, emerging colors, fabrics, and silhouettes.
Conduct regular analysis of market trends, buyer preferences, and competitor collections to inform and enhance seasonal line development.
Translate market insights into original, market-viable design concepts.
- Additional Responsibilities
Proactively follow up on sample progress, revisions, and production timelines.
Contribute creative ideas for collection presentations, photoshoots, or marketing campaigns.
Continuously invest in skill development, exploring new techniques, tools, and fashion software as relevant.
Maintain accuracy, consistency, and creative ownership across all assigned projects.
Key Skills Required :
Technical Skills:-
Strong sketching and CAD design skills (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, CorelDRAW)
Knowledge of pattern making, stitching, and garment construction
Deep understanding of embroidery types (Schiffli, threadwork, Mirror work, etc.) and how to apply them effectively
Expertise in color combinations, body types, and style compatibility
